What does College and Career Readiness really mean? Find out how State Superintendent Tony Evers explains it.

Agenda 2017

In a video called What Does Agenda 2017 Mean for Students, Teachers, and Parents?, State Superintendent Tony Evers takes the opportunity to define a term that’s sometimes misunderstood: career and college readiness.

He explains it’s “not a high school, career and technical education thing” but rather a “PK-12 thing.” The idea is a readiness for life that relates to every single aspect of what educators do, including things that are hard to measure.

While acknowledging that “clearly, academic preparation is important,” Evers clarifies that students also need to be “competent both socially and emotionally.”
