BPC Works With University of WI-Madison

Project Summary:

BPC provides external grant evaluation to the University of WI-Madison’s (UW) United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant.  This 5 year and $5 million dollar project provides a curriculum development process, professional development training, creation of middle school (gr. 6-8) science/culture units, and utilizes community, culture, and local STEM workforce to guide the curriculum development process.  The project seeks to generate more Native and rural students who are interested in STEM careers.  Participating educators and students are able to be part of hands-on and research based STEM clubs (Sustainability Clubs) and research activities with UW and affiliate university research partners.  BPC has provided the leadership with support on IRB protocols, instruments, and approval; has designed and carried out a comprehensive, scientifically rigorous and culturally appropriate mixed-methods evaluation plan; and has implemented two nationally normed research instruments (Stages of Concern Questionnaire  and the Surveys of Enacted Curriculum).  BPC generates an annual evaluation report and also assists with USDA required presentations and reports as needed.

BPC Works With University of WI-Milwaukee

Project Summary:

BPC is the external evaluator for the University of WI Milwaukee’s (UWM) Emerging Leader’s Program (ELP).  This UWM program ($150,000 per cohort) partners with Milwaukee Public School (MPS) to help MPS staff become assistant principals.  The ELP provides online and on-site training with in the field experiences to help cohorts of 30 MPS staff become proficient in WI Administrative Standards and urban principalship requirements per the 3 module course.  Over the course of 6 months, participants produce course assignments, graduate papers, professional portfolio, and present at a culminating Capstone experience to the ELP leaders and MPS peers.  BPC completed all IRB protocols and approvals; developed online surveys, interviews, and observational instruments to collect data for evaluating the ELP program.

BPC Works with Northcentral Technical College

Project Summary:

BPC provides external grant evaluation to Northcentral Technical College’s (NTC) United States Department of Education’s Rigorous Programs of Study (RPOS) grant.  Through this four year $1 million dollar project,NTC is creating a high school to college pipeline for advanced trades and manufacturing pathways for 3 school districts in northeastern WI.  Curriculum development, professional development training, and creation of an RPOS app assessment (via iTunes/Apple) are all key elements in the project.  BPC has worked with the Federal Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE), who oversees the RPOS grantees, to utilize and digitize the RPOS 10 frameworks assessment.  BPC also works to support the national evaluation design through MPR and Associates (hired by OVAE) to help local longitudinal and annual data collection efforts go smoothly.  BPC has developed surveys, interviews, and annual evaluation reports for the NTC RPOS project.

BPC Works with Tennessee Technological University

Project Summary:

BPC provides external grant evaluation to the Tennessee Technological University’s (TTU) National Science Foundation (NSF) STEP grant.  This 5 year and $2.5 million dollar project helps to create a pipeline of better educated secondary math students to TTU so they are prepared as they enter and are successful as they attend TTU as Math majors.  K-12 and Univeristy partnership articulation agreements, professional development, and curriculum development sessions are utilized to create pathways that are educationally rigorous as well as responsive to the private sector workforce needs.  BPC has worked with the TTU NSF grant leadership on IRB protocols, instruments, and data collection systems.  Capacity building work sessions as well as data retreats to discuss and utilize project and evaluation data are part of BPC’s work at TTU.  BPC also generates an annual external evaluation report and assists TTU with required NSF reports (STEP-April annually and Fast Lane-May annually).
