Google Classroom and Class Roster

PBS LearningMedia added two new features:

  • Class Roster
    Educators now have the ability to create their own class roster, which enables them to assign specific lessons to students and monitor student progress. To find this feature, click “Classes” in the Dashboard menu within the teacher view of PBS LearningMedia.
  • Google Classroom
    A share button to import PBS LearningMedia resources directly into Google Classroom was added. To find the button, navigate to the resource you wish to add and click the green Google Classroom button located to the upper right of the resource’s description.

This workshop will offer renewable energy hands-on activities and classroom-based applications to help teachers analyze energy information and create strategies and techniques to enhance their students’ understanding of renewable energy. Activities include building a solar race car, siting a solar system, and building a shoebox solar cooker. Workshop participants will receive the KEEP Doable Renewables: Renewable Energy Education Supplement designed for teachers to use in their classrooms.

Native vs Non-Native graduation rates…Culture in the classroom for school success?

One school on the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota puts a focus on culturally based education and it might be getting results. From sugar bushing to round dance competitions, cultural practices are part of the educational process. Overall, only 56 percent of American Indian students graduated on time in Minnesota in 2015, according to the Minnesota Department of Education. The average is 84 percent. In this continuation of our collaboration with the American Graduate initiative, we’ll talk with educators from the White Earth Reservation about their approach and what they’re seeing.
